Vattenfall lowers work price - electricity customers save - Vattenfall adjusts Berlin electricity bills with mixed rate changes

Vattenfall customers in Berlin will face changes to their electricity bills from April. The company is raising its fixed monthly fee while cutting the variable rate per kilowatt-hour. Overall, households are expected to save money despite the adjustment.

Starting 1 April, Vattenfall's fixed monthly charge will rise from €10.90 to €13.40. This increase comes alongside a reduction in the variable electricity rate, dropping from 44.39 cents to 37.93 cents per kilowatt-hour.

The lower variable rate follows government relief measures and reduced grid fees from Stromnetz Berlin. These changes align with broader trends in Germany, where household electricity prices have fallen in recent years. For example, average rates from major suppliers dropped from around 39-40 cents per kilowatt-hour in 2024/2025 to 31-37 cents by early 2026.

Despite the higher fixed fee, Vattenfall estimates that a typical household on its standard tariff will save about €112 annually. The adjustment reflects both market conditions and regulatory shifts affecting energy costs.

The new pricing structure takes effect on 1 April. Customers will pay a higher monthly base fee but benefit from a lower per-unit cost for electricity. The net result is a projected annual saving for most households in Berlin.
