Veteran officer Sascha Wegstroth named Wülfrath’s new police chief after 30 years of service

The Mettmann District Police Authority has appointed a new news head for Wülfrath's police station. Sascha Wegstroth, a 30-year veteran of the police force, takes over from Police Chief Commissioner Frank Eigelshofen, who has retired.

Wegstroth brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has served in various capacities, including undercover work, leading the Mettmann emergency call center, and acting as a shift supervisor in Velbert. Notably, he has focused on combating organized crime through the 'zOOm' initiative in his previous post at Wegstroth.

The new police chief aims to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor and maintain close ties with the community. He was officially welcomed by Mayor Rainer Ritsche on February 26, 2025.
