VHS Neuwied's 'Long Night of Democracy' Inspires Engagement Through Arts and Discussion

A lively evening of democracy-themed events unfolded at the VHS Neuwied. The 'Long Night of Democracy' saw a panel discussion, poetry, music, and theater, all aimed at inspiring engagement and participation in democratic society.

The event kicked off with a panel discussion titled 'How is our democracy doing - and who still cares?'. Four guests from diverse backgrounds - Andrea Rexer, Dr. Katarina Barley, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Riedl, and Theresia Crone - shared their insights. The evening also featured a powerful poetry slam performance by Sarah Kunz, who explored the meaning of freedom and co-determination in a democratic society.

The VHS Neuwied presented its new educational offer for the coming semester, emphasizing education as a fundamental right for all. This was accompanied by a classical trio performing variations of the German national anthem. The event concluded on a high note with a musical performance by the student band 'Rock With Groove' from the Rhein-Wied-Gymnasium. Earlier, a scenic performance directed by Frank Reinhard traced the 100-year history of adult education centers.

The 'Long Night of Democracy' at the VHS Neuwied successfully promoted democratic values through music, words, theater, and discussion. It offered interactive formats and info stands, encouraging guests to engage with topics like democracy, language, and integration. The event served as a reminder of the importance of education and participation in a thriving democratic society.
