Viersen district unites to strengthen child protection through new network
A new initiative to safeguard children has launched in the Viersen district. Called the Interdisciplinary Child Protection Network (NiK), it brings together local authorities, schools, and other organisations. The goal is to enhance cooperation and respond more swiftly to risks facing young people in the area.
The network was established in response to North Rhine-Westphalia’s State Child Protection Act (LKiSchG), which mandates stronger collaboration between institutions. All five youth offices in the district have now signed a shared agreement to formalise their existing procedures.
The agreement unites the district’s youth offices under a single framework. Regular meetings and expanded partnerships will help streamline responses to child protection concerns. Authorities aim to create a more interconnected system where information flows smoothly between all involved.
