Viersen's creative contest celebrates diversity with €500 in prizes
Viersen has launched a creative competition to celebrate diversity and unity. The contest invites participants to submit entries until April 30, with prizes totalling €500 up for grabs. Winners will be announced during the city's first nationwide Unity in Diversity Action Day on May 21.
The competition opened on March 9 and runs for nearly two months. Participants can send their submissions to [email protected] before the April 30 deadline. A jury, featuring Mayor Christoph Hopp and local activist Aaron Schelkes, will judge all entries.
Three cash awards will be given: €250 for first place, €150 for second, and €100 for third. The winners will receive their prizes from Mayor Hopp during Viersen's *Unity in Diversity* Action Day on May 21. The event is part of a wider initiative supported by national and regional groups. Alongside the city and its Youth Forum, organisations like the Federal Agency for Civic Education (*bpb*), the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs (*BMFSFJ*), the Amadeu Antonio Foundation, and various youth offices and NGOs are involved in the Action Day.
The competition closes on April 30, with judging to follow shortly after. Successful entrants will be recognised at a public ceremony on May 21. The initiative aims to highlight community efforts in promoting inclusion and diversity across Germany.
