Viersen’s districts welcome new mayors under unified political agreement

Viersen has elected new local mayors and deputies for its four districts. The appointments follow a prearranged agreement among the city’s political factions, avoiding the need for individual votes. Each district now has a mayor and a deputy to represent local interests.

The council’s political groups had already settled on a unified list of candidates for the 2024 presidential election. This meant all nominations were approved without further balloting. The right to propose candidates was shared out based on each group’s share of the vote in the 2022 local elections.

The elections confirm the new leadership for each of Viersen’s four districts. Each mayor and deputy will serve until the next local elections. The prearranged agreement ensured a smooth and unanimous selection process.
