Việt Nam, Venezuela mark 36th anniversary of diplomatic ties in Caracas
Vietnam and Venezuela celebrated 36 years of diplomatic ties on December 17, 2025. The milestone was marked by reaffirmations of friendship, cooperation, and shared political values from both nations. Officials highlighted decades of solidarity rooted in their histories of national liberation struggles.
The anniversary saw statements from high-level representatives of both countries. Venezuelan Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Tatiana Pugh praised the enduring bond, noting over three decades of collaboration. She also expressed admiration for Vietnam’s resilience and its progress under the Communist Party’s leadership.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vũ Trung Mỹ echoed the sentiment, stressing his government’s dedication to maintaining the friendship. The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), along with the state and its people, similarly underscored the importance of their relationship with Vietnam. The two nations have long shared goals of peace, freedom, and justice. Their connection was further strengthened during the tenure of Venezuela’s former ambassador to Vietnam, Rafael Ramírez, who served from 2020 to 2023.
The 36th anniversary of Vietnam-Venezuela relations reinforced mutual commitments to cooperation. Both sides emphasised their shared history and political alignment as foundations for future engagement. The occasion served as a reminder of their ongoing partnership in global and regional affairs.
