Vietnam and Jordan deepen ties in landmark diplomatic talks
Vietnam and Jordan have agreed to bolster their friendship and cooperation, following a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Lê Hoài Trung and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Al Safadi in Hanoi. The two leaders discussed ways to fortify ties across various sectors and praised King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein's recent visit.
Trung proposed that the two foreign ministries take a pioneering role in beefing up cooperation. This includes setting up contact points and holding political consultations early on. Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to the two-state solution for the Palestinian issue and stressed the importance of adhering to international law and the United Nations Charter.
Trung suggested exploring mechanisms for dialogue and collaboration in several areas, including national defence-security, agriculture, healthcare, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchange. Safadi hailed Vietnam as a key partner and agreed with Trung's proposals, committing to work closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both ministers vowed to intensify close cooperation between their ministries to strengthen the Vietnam-Jordan friendship and multifaceted cooperation. They aimed to contribute to peace, stability, and development in both regions and the world. Safadi also pushed for reviewing and expediting the signing of pending agreements to establish a robust legal corridor for bilateral ties.
