Vietnam and Laos deepen labor and social welfare ties amid regional shifts
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met with Lao Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Phosay Sayasone in Hanoi, expressing delight in the growing cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The meeting emphasized the importance of their special relationship, especially in the current volatile regional and global environment.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Chính highlighted the significance of the great friendship, special solidarity, and deep mutual trust between the two countries. He suggested developing new orientations for Vietnam-Laos cooperation in labor and national contributor affairs, suited to the evolving context.
The Prime Minister called on the two ministries to continue building on their achievements and strengthen coordination in workforce training, vocational education, employment, social protection, and poverty reduction. He emphasized the importance of maintaining and enhancing existing cooperation mechanisms, increasing information exchange, policy dialogue, and strategy research.
Minister Sayasone noted the strong partnership between the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam and the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, sharing experiences in various labor-related areas. Prime Minister Chính affirmed Vietnam's active support for Laos' initiatives on labor and social affairs during Laos' ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024, and expressed hope for continued close coordination to deepen the special relationship between the two countries.
