Vietnam and Laos pledge deeper economic ties and joint project acceleration
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Đức Phớc met with Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith on November 12. They discussed bilateral cooperation, reviewed key joint projects, and agreed on major areas for future collaboration.
Phớc expressed hope that senior Lao leaders will continue supporting Vietnamese businesses in Laos and encourage major investments. Both sides noted strong progress in economic, trade, and investment cooperation, with many positive outcomes and addressed difficulties.
They agreed to accelerate the completion of key joint projects, with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Laos working closely with Vietnam's Ministry of the Interior. Cooperation between ministries, sectors, and localities, especially in border areas, has deepened, strengthening the special solidarity between the two nations.
Phớc proposed concrete measures to address long-standing obstacles in bilateral cooperation. Sisoulith urged both sides to focus on deepening economic integration and connectivity, particularly in transport infrastructure.
Phớc and Sisoulith's meeting resulted in agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with a focus on accelerating joint project completion and deepening economic integration. Both sides committed to addressing obstacles and fostering stronger ties between their nations.
