Vietnam holds pivotal 2026–2031 National Assembly and local elections

Vietnam held elections on March 15 for the 16th National Assembly and local People's Councils. Voters across the country selected 500 deputies for the 2026–2031 legislative term. Provincial and district councils also elected their representatives in the same ballot.

Polling stations opened nationwide as citizens cast their votes for both national and local offices. The elections covered all levels of government, from the National Assembly down to communal People's Councils.

National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mãn participated in the vote at Polling Station No. 14 in Hóc Môn Commune, Hồ Chí Minh City. His presence highlighted the significance of the election for the upcoming 2026–2031 term.

The results will shape Vietnam's legislative and local governance for the next five years. The newly elected deputies will take office with responsibilities spanning national policy and regional administration.
