Vietnam Red Cross Raises Record Funds for Cuba in 65th Anniversary Campaign

The Vietnam Red Cross Society has achieved a remarkable feat with its international fundraising campaign, raising hundreds of billions of Vietnamese đồng in a remarkably short period. This is the first time such an amount has been raised in such a brief duration. The campaign, supported by high-ranking officials, marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba.

The campaign, titled '65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Solidarity', was launched to celebrate the milestone in bilateral relations. It was backed by notable contributors such as the Ministry of National Defence, the Vietnam News Agency, and the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union. The funds raised were used to purchase equipment for electricity transmission and distribution in Cuba, aiding the country's infrastructure development.

The campaign's initial target of VNĐ65 billion was met within just 30 hours of its launch, demonstrating the overwhelming support and solidarity from the Vietnamese people. The total amount collected surpassed VNĐ537.7 billion, equivalent to over US$20.41 million.

The '65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Solidarity' fundraising programme has successfully raised a significant amount to support Cuba's development. This campaign not only demonstrates the strong bond between the two nations but also showcases the Vietnamese people's generosity and commitment to international solidarity.
