Vietnam streamlines immigration with 98% online passport success rate
Vietnam's Immigration Department recently held a dialogue to discuss and improve immigration procedures. The event, attended by Major General Nguyễn Bá Tuấn, Deputy Director of the Immigration Department, saw positive changes and plans for aviation security and international cooperation.
The dialogue addressed various aspects of immigration management. Officials answered queries about issuing passports, APEC Business Travel Cards, online visas, and immigration for foreigners. The event also highlighted the successful implementation of online passport issuance, which has reached a 98% rate this year, significantly reducing long queues at immigration agencies.
The department has been focusing on administrative reform, abolishing cumbersome procedures and applying technology. This includes completing online public service systems through new business software and digital platforms to enhance management and services. The effort to ensure aviation security has seen positive changes, with plans for managing major airports being developed.
The Immigration Department is committed to improving its services and procedures. The dialogue is part of this effort, which also includes accelerating global cooperation to raise the position and prestige of Vietnamese immigration forces internationally. Local police units have effectively carried out policies and measures relating to immigration and residency management for foreigners in recent years.
