Vietnamese Major Lê Vinh Hoang Joins UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan
Major Lê Vinh Hoang has been selected for a significant role in the United Nations peacekeeping mission. The Vietnamese military officer received his assignment in Ha Noi on October 10, 2023, and will serve as a military observer in the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
Major Hoang expressed pride and honour in being chosen for this mission, pledging to foster solidarity within his unit and with international colleagues. He will replace Captain Chu Tuan Linh in this role. Over 1,300 Vietnamese officers have been deployed to UN missions, demonstrating the country's commitment to global peacekeeping efforts. This includes recent deployments of Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 7 and Engineer Team Rotation 4. Major Hoang brings valuable experience to the mission, having previously served in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) as a military intelligence analysis officer. Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, commended the Vietnamese Department of Peacekeeping Operations for their preparations and urged Major Hoang to adhere to the Party's guidelines, State's laws, Army's discipline, and UN and host country's regulations during his mission.
Major Lê Vinh Hoang's appointment to the UN Mission in South Sudan reflects Viet Nam's growing involvement in international peacekeeping. His experience and dedication are expected to contribute positively to the mission's goals of promoting peace and stability in the region.
