Vietnamese youth in St. Petersburg celebrate 95 years of unity and heritage
Students and young Vietnamese people in St. Petersburg marked Youth Month with a series of events in March. The celebrations honoured the 95th anniversary of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union. Activities ranged from cultural and sports events to ceremonies remembering the Union's history and legacy. The month-long programme included a roundtable discussion on Việt Nam's youth development strategy, held at the Russia-Việt Nam Cultural Centre. Participants also attended a documentary screening about President Hồ Chí Minh and a ceremony reviewing the Union's history over the past nine decades.
Flowers were laid at the Hồ Chí Minh Institute and Monument as a tribute to the late leader. Among the highlights was a presentation by Ngô Minh Hải, Secretary of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union and President of the Youth Federation of Hồ Chí Minh City. He gifted portraits to the family of Heroic Mother Nguyễn Thị Đẩu, honouring her and her two children—martyrs Trần Thị Sáu and Trần Văn Chấn. Over 20 universities in St. Petersburg took part, with students joining sports competitions, cultural performances, and educational workshops. The events aimed to foster cultural exchange while reinforcing ties between Việt Nam and Russia.
The activities brought together young people from across St. Petersburg's Vietnamese community. Through ceremonies, discussions, and shared experiences, the celebrations highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations. The month also served as a reminder of the Youth Union's role in shaping Việt Nam's history and future.
