Vietnam’s 16th National Assembly embraces youth, diversity, and record female representation
The 16th National Assembly (NA) is set to have 500 deputies, with a notable increase in diversity and youth. Around 5-10% will be non-Party members, and 10% will be under 40 years old. Women will make up at least 35% of the assembly.
The NA will ensure at least 18% representation from ethnic minority groups, prioritising those without previous representation. The Party Central Committee will have 16-18% representation, including 12-14 members of the Politburo and the Secretariat.
Deputies will be distributed as follows: 217 from central agencies (43.4%) and 283 from localities (56.6%). This includes about 160 re-elected deputies (32%).
The 16th NA aims to be more representative and youthful, with increased diversity and a significant number of women. This reflects the nation's commitment to inclusivity and renewal.
