Vietnam's CPV Congress Bolsters Ties With Russia, Plans Further Cooperation

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has hosted its 14th National Congress, with high-level Russian officials in attendance. The event underscored the strong ties between Vietnam and Russia, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The exact identities of the Russian government and societal leaders invited remain unclear. However, the meeting was significant for its discussions on bolstering cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in various sectors. Both sides agreed to strengthen ties in security, defence, local and transport connectivity, as well as education, health, culture, sports, and tourism.

Russian Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, praised Vietnam's achievements over the past 80 years. On behalf of the CPV, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm invited President Putin and Medvedev to visit Vietnam again soon. This invitation reflects Vietnam's consistent view of Russia as a key strategic partner, eager to expand collaboration across major fields.

The meeting also saw discussions on economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Russia and Vietnam. Both sides aim to remove market barriers, facilitate access, and create favourable conditions for enterprises, particularly in oil and gas, energy, and science and technology sectors.

The 14th National Congress of the CPV has reinforced Vietnam's commitment to its strategic partnership with Russia. With plans for further high-level visits and enhanced cooperation in multiple sectors, both nations look to strengthen their bond in the coming years.
