Vietnam’s NEC Unites Delegates Ahead of High-Stakes 2026 Presidential Election
The National Election Council (NEC) is set to hold a crucial conference this Saturday, aiming to unite political awareness and ideology ahead of the 2026-31 term elections. The event, chaired by Politburo member Trần Thanh Mẫn, will disseminate key directives and guide delegates through nomination procedures and election plans.
The conference will delve into vital documents, such as the Politburo's Directive and guidance from the Party Central Committee's Organisation Commission on personnel matters. Delegates will also receive briefings on nomination candidate negotiations, voter consultation conferences, and the NEC's electoral map.
In a bid to foster social consensus and ensure a smooth electoral process, the conference will be held in a hybrid format. This will allow for both in-person attendance and online connections to provincial- and communal-level sites across 34 provinces and cities nationwide. The event seeks to engage delegates from all 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam.
With Party General Secretary Tô Lâm in attendance to deliver instructions, the conference is expected to instill unity among delegates and contribute significantly to the successful organisation of the upcoming presidential election. The NEC's efforts to combine offline and online participation demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and efficiency in the election results.
