Vietnam’s PM convenes nationwide meeting to tackle economic challenges in 2025
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính chaired a regular governmental meeting on Saturday, connecting with all 34 provinces and cities nationwide. The meeting aimed to assess socio-economic development and public investment capital allocation, with a focus on key issues and challenges facing Vietnam's economy.
The meeting, held in October 2025, was attended by prominent politicians, including members of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee, the deputy secretary of the Government Party Committee, the Deputy Prime Minister, government members, and leaders of provinces and cities. It followed significant events such as the 13th Party Central Committee's 14th plenum and the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly.
PM Chính acknowledged the steady progress in the socio-economic situation during the first 10 months of 2025 but also highlighted the challenges ahead. These include increasing inflationary pressure, exchange rates, and interest rates, as well as slowing domestic consumption and exports. He urged attendees to propose key tasks and solutions, especially innovative ideas to promote growth and implement the Politburo's resolutions.
The meeting discussed issues related to social housing, building schools in border areas, and preventing and overcoming natural disaster consequences. Despite these challenges, the macro economy remained stable, with inflation controlled and major balances ensured. Attention was also paid to cultural and social areas and social security.
PM Chính emphasised the complicated and unpredictable world situation, including US tax policy changes, global financial risks, strategic competition, and natural disasters. He requested delegates to discuss and propose solutions for the socio-economic situation and address difficulties, obstacles, and remaining problems in key projects and tasks. The meeting served as a crucial platform for policymakers to collaborate and navigate Vietnam's economic landscape amidst both domestic and international challenges.
