Villingen-Schwenningen honors war victims in solemn memorial ceremony

Villingen-Schwenningen will hold a memorial ceremony on Sunday, November 16, at 2 p.m. to commemorate Germany's National Day of Mourning. The event, to be held at the Waldfriedhof cemetery, will honor victims of both world wars and Nazi oppression. Lord Mayor Jürgen Roth and Pastor Klaus Gölz will deliver speeches in remembrance of the fallen. The ceremony will feature musical pieces such as Sepp Thaler’s 'Funeral March No. 2' and Friedrich Silcher’s 'Ich hatt’ einen Kameraden'. The Stadtmusik Schwenningen and the Liederkranz Schwenningen choir will provide the musical accompaniment. Lord Mayor Roth and representatives of the 550th Armored Engineer Company will lay wreaths at war graves and memorial sites. All citizens are invited to attend the memorial hour as a gesture for peace and against forgetting. The memorial ceremony in Villingen-Schwenningen serves as a poignant reminder of the past and a call for peace. It is an opportunity for the community to come together and honor the victims of war and oppression.
