Villingen-Schwenningen modernizes traffic lights for safety and sustainability
Villingen-Schwenningen is set to upgrade pedestrian crossings and traffic lights across the city. The project, supported by Germany's National Climate Initiative, will modernize six signal systems from November 10 to 28.
In Villingen, the crossing at An der Schelmengaß / Sachsenstraße will be improved. Meanwhile, Schwenningen will see upgrades at Alte Herdstraße, Rietenstraße, Arminstraße, Armin-/Römerstraße, and Römer-/Gellertstraße intersections. The modernization includes converting signal lights to energy-efficient LED technology, replacing outdated control units, and installing tactile paving for visually impaired pedestrians.
The City of Villingen-Schwenningen is managing this project, which is part of the nationwide effort to promote local climate protection. The upgrades aim to reduce energy consumption and enhance safety for all road users.
