Vĩnh Long's local producers secure major retail deals at trade event

A trade promotion event in Vĩnh Long province has brought together local producers and a major retailer to boost sales of regional goods. Organised by the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and Central Retail Việt Nam, the programme aimed to connect businesses with wider distribution networks. Over 30 enterprises and cooperatives took part, showcasing products under Vietnam's OCOP initiative.

The event featured 70 products from more than 30 local businesses, representing a selection of Vĩnh Long's 1,300 OCOP-certified items. Trần Quốc Tuấn, head of the province's Department of Industry and Trade, highlighted the diversity of goods on display, including food and agricultural products.

One-on-one matchmaking sessions took place between producers and Central Retail's sourcing team. Well-known local firms such as Cầu Kè Macapuno Processing Co., Ltd. and Nhật Ngọc Cake Co., Ltd. presented their offerings. A total of 25 enterprises and cooperatives engaged directly with the retailer, focusing on four-star and five-star OCOP products as well as VietGAP-certified goods. Paul Le, representing Central Retail Việt Nam, noted that over 90 per cent of products stocked in their stores are Vietnamese. The company emphasised its commitment to supporting domestic producers through expanded market access. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Department of Industry and Trade and Central Retail. The agreement outlines plans to strengthen trade promotion, improve product visibility, and create sustainable supply chains. Items like king oranges, macapuno candies, sweet potato crackers, fragrant rice, honey, coconut-based products, and vegetables are now in line for inclusion in Central Retail's distribution network.

The partnership aims to help Vĩnh Long's producers enter larger retail channels and grow their market reach. By linking local businesses with Central Retail's network, the initiative seeks to increase sales of OCOP products while ensuring long-term distribution stability. The signed agreement also supports ongoing trade promotion activities in the province.
