Viola Klein Honoured with Federal Cross of Merit for Business & Social Impact
Viola Klein, a prominent Dresden entrepreneur, was honoured with the Federal Cross of Merit by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during a ceremony at Schloss Bellevue in Berlin, celebrating German Unity Day. The award recognised Klein's significant contributions to society and business.
Klein's entrepreneurial journey began in 1994 when she co-founded Saxonia Systems AG, a leading IT and software company in Saxony. Her commitment to her community and beyond extends beyond her business ventures.
In 2006, Klein initiated the Hope Gala, an annual event that has been held 17 times. The gala, started by Klein and her colleagues Prof. Matthias Oldag and Tobias Wolff, supports the HOPE Cape Town project. This initiative focuses on healthcare and education for children, youth, and families in the townships of Cape Town, South Africa.
Klein's dedication to empowering women is evident in her encouragement for them to pursue careers in MINT fields and found startups. She is also involved in various foundations that support social causes, embodying entrepreneurial responsibility, cultural commitment, and social security awareness.
Viola Klein's receipt of the Federal Cross of Merit is a testament to her outstanding achievements in business and her commitment to social causes. Her initiatives, including the Hope Gala and her support for the HOPE Cape Town project, have positively impacted lives both in Germany and South Africa.
