Violent arrest in Viersen leaves two officers injured after chaotic chase
A 20-year-old man is under investigation after a violent confrontation with police in Viersen on Thursday evening. The incident began when he ran a red light, made an illegal U-turn, and stopped his car on the pavement. Two officers were injured as he resisted arrest during a chaotic chase.
The trouble started around 6:40 PM when plainclothes officers from the local regulatory authority tried to stop the man for questioning. Instead of complying, he fled on foot. When caught, he became aggressive, refusing alcohol and drug tests, hiding his identification, and fighting back as police attempted to handcuff him.
The case remains under investigation, with drug test results still pending. The two injured officers are receiving medical attention. Authorities have not yet announced when the man will appear in court or what further penalties he may face.
