Violent clashes with police erupt in Austria and Germany over routine checks

Two separate incidents in Austria and Germany have led to charges of resisting law enforcement and assault. In Innsbruck, a Russian national clashed with police during a traffic stop, while in Berlin, a man attacked an officer conducting an anti-littering check. Both cases resulted in injuries and formal accusations.

On December 10, 2025, a 25-year-old Russian driver was stopped by public order police in Innsbruck. Officers attempted to prevent him from continuing to drive, but he resisted violently. During the struggle, two officers sustained minor injuries before the suspect was finally detained. He now faces charges of resisting arrest and assault.

Both incidents highlight confrontations between civilians and officers carrying out their duties. The Russian national remains in custody pending further legal action, while the Berlin attacker will appear in court to answer the charges. The injured officers in Innsbruck received medical treatment for their minor wounds.
