Violent standoff ends with arrest after ex-partner's home invasion and police assault
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Volpriehausen, Uslar district, after a violent confrontation with police late on Friday. The incident began when he unlawfully entered the apartment of his 30-year-old ex-partner, leading to a chaotic manhunt and two injured officers.
The trouble started around 10:15 p.m. when the suspect broke into his ex-partner’s home. Police were alerted and, while en route, received reports that he might be armed.
When officers arrived, they questioned the man about potential weapons. He reacted aggressively, pulling out a pocketknife, which was quickly seized. The situation escalated as he shoved a 25-year-old officer to the ground and struck both him and his 47-year-old colleague. He then attempted to grab one officer’s service weapon but failed. The suspect fled on foot, triggering a search operation that included a Federal Police helicopter. During the manhunt, he contacted police several times by phone, claiming he was ready to surrender. He was eventually taken into custody without resistance at around 12:50 a.m.
Both injured officers were temporarily unfit for duty following the altercation. The suspect remains in custody after the violent episode, which involved assault, attempted weapon seizure, and a brief escape attempt.
