Wanheimerort: Resistance against enforcement officers - Report

A 37-year-old man now faces criminal charges after resisting arrest in two separate incidents. The first took place on a tram in Erfurt, where he fled from police and damaged property. The second occurred in Duisburg after officers responded to reports of a staggering man near a supermarket.

The first incident began when police in Erfurt attempted to execute a warrant on the man while he was on a tram. Instead of complying, he ran away, damaging a parked car in the process. Officers caught up with him, but he injured them slightly during the struggle. He was later presented before the Amtsgericht Erfurt on the outstanding warrant.

On Thursday evening, around 8 p.m., a witness reported seeing a man staggering near a supermarket on Kulturstraße in Duisburg’s Wanheimerort district. When police arrived, they found him swaying with clenched fists. As they approached, he collapsed and suffered minor injuries.

The man then became aggressive, verbally abusing and spitting at officers while they searched for his identification. One officer also sustained minor injuries but stayed on duty. After locating his documents, police took him into custody.

A judge at Duisburg District Court later issued an oral order allowing a doctor to take a blood sample from the man.

The 37-year-old remains in custody and now faces charges for resisting law enforcement. His case will proceed through the courts, with evidence including the blood sample obtained under the judge’s order. The incidents left officers with minor injuries, but none required medical withdrawal from duty.
