There are group of people holding placards and walking. These are the trees. I can see small bushes. This is the banner. I can see a building with name boards attached to it. These look like cars. I think these are the current polls.

Wartburgkreis Democracy Conference Unites Activists for Rural Civic Engagement

The annual Democracy Conference in Wartburgkreis took place on Friday at the Bürgerhaus Sünna. Organised jointly by the Partnership for Democracy Wartburgkreis and the Democratic Youth Network, the event drew activists, associations, and local officials. Nicole Briechle guided the evening, setting a welcoming and focused tone for discussions.

The conference began with Simon Ortner delivering an impromptu keynote. He presented the work of the Partnership for Democracy and highlighted the priorities for 2025. Attendees then explored ways to strengthen engagement in rural areas, addressing current challenges and reasons to participate.

Three local initiatives—KulturZeit, Kulturlokal 'Tausend kleine Dinge', and DemokraTISCH—showcased their projects. Their presentations demonstrated the creativity and diversity of democratic work across the district. Meanwhile, two communications agencies, Himberspecht and Sandruschka, captured the event visually through graphic recording.

Martin Rosenstengel, Deputy District Administrator, praised the district’s efforts. He stressed the importance of local democracy and the impact of grassroots initiatives. The evening closed with a performance of I’m No Heroine by Theater 3D Wiesbaden.

The conference reinforced collaboration within Wartburgkreis’s civic engagement network. It provided a platform for exchange, showcased successful projects, and highlighted the region’s vibrant democratic activity. The discussions and presentations will help shape future initiatives in the area.
