Warwick school board approves construction changes for restrooms outside the high school cafeteria
The Warwick school board has approved several key decisions in its latest meeting. These include budget adjustments, new advertising deals, and upgrades to school facilities. A community event and a memorial tree planting were also announced.
The board gave the green light to four change orders for Warwick High School’s renovation, costing a total of £506,147. The updates will add 12 standard toilets, two accessible restrooms with support bars and extra wheelchair space, and two smaller ambulatory toilets near the cafeteria. Board member Jerry Steinman raised concerns about the expenses tied to these modifications.
The district also confirmed plans for a new theatre stage, set to arrive in January 2023. Williamstown-based designer Sarah Fletcher will handle the project. Meanwhile, the board agreed to plant a memorial tree honouring Will Fenninger, an 11th-grade student who died in an e-bike accident. On the financial side, the board approved an Act 1 opt-out resolution for the 2026-27 budget. This move limits any real estate tax increase to 3.5%. They also signed advertising deals with Riptide Car Wash and Bomberger’s Store, securing sponsorship for Grosh Field. Looking ahead, the 10th annual Resilience Community Event will take place on February 19. The evening will feature a film screening followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker.
The latest decisions bring upgrades to school facilities, new sponsorships, and a tribute to a lost student. The budget cap and upcoming community event also mark key points for the district’s planning. All measures were approved unanimously by the board.
