Weekend chaos in Reutlingen: Assaults, crashes, and an old war relic
Police Officer Assaulted After Altercation
Reutlingen police are currently investigating multiple counts of assault involving a 35-year-old man and a woman of the same age. According to initial findings, a verbal dispute broke out at around 2 a.m. in a bar on Gartenstraße between the 35-year-old woman and another patron. Two men later intervened in the argument, which first escalated into a verbal confrontation and then into a physical altercation between the 35-year-old man and his 39-year-old opponent outside the establishment.
When the first patrol officers arrived to separate those involved, the 35-year-old woman flew into such a rage that she suddenly punched a female officer in the face, causing minor injuries. Both the 35-year-old assailant and the originally involved 35-year-old man—her husband—were taken to Reutlingen police station. The heavily intoxicated couple now faces multiple investigations. While the 35-year-old man is being investigated for assault, his wife must answer for, among other charges, physically attacking an enforcement officer. Due to her blood alcohol level well above the legal limit, a blood sample was taken at the prosecutor's orders. After police completed immediate measures, the couple was released. The injured officer was able to continue her duties.
Reutlingen police are now investigating the initial altercation and have taken over the case regarding the 35-year-old woman's assault on the officer.
Lichtenstein (RT): Unexploded WWI Artillery Shell Discovered
Police and an explosive ordnance disposal team were called to Lichtenstein-Holzelfingen on Friday evening. At around 6:20 p.m., authorities were notified that a historical artillery shell had been found in the attic of a residential building on Bussenhartstraße while it was being cleared out. The shell had apparently been stored there by the previous owner for several years.
The Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office's bomb disposal unit was initially contacted for a risk assessment. Upon inspection, the explosive ordnance team determined the shell was no longer dangerous, as it no longer contained a propellant charge. Dating back to World War I, the projectile had already been fired. The artillery shell was ultimately removed and disposed of properly by the disposal team.
Leinfelden-Echterdingen (ES): Unsecured Car Rolls into Wall
A traffic accident occurred on Friday evening in Stangenstraße after a driver failed to secure her parked vehicle against rolling. The 24-year-old driver of an Opel Corsa parked her car at around 8:30 p.m. but neglected to engage the gear or apply the handbrake. As a result, the vehicle began rolling down a slight incline later that evening.
First, the unoccupied Opel struck a traffic island, which deflected it to the left. It then rolled onto the sidewalk and finally collided with a wall about 20 meters away, coming to a stop. When the woman returned to her car roughly two hours later, she discovered it had moved on its own. Investigators ruled out third-party involvement, and fortunately, no one was injured. The vehicle sustained approximately €4,000 in damage to its right side and front. Neither the traffic island nor the wall was damaged.
Nürtingen (ES): Technical Fault Causes Fire
Fire Alarm at Company in Weberstraße
Police and firefighters responded to a fire alarm at a business on Weberstraße shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, crews detected smoke inside the building, later determining the cause to be a small fire in an electrical distribution box near a staff kitchenette. No employees were present at the time of the incident. Investigators currently suspect a technical defect in the distribution box. Preliminary estimates place the property damage at around €20,000. Due to heavy smoke exposure, the kitchenette remains temporarily unusable.
Kirchheim unter Teck (ES): Assault Outside Pub – Police Seek Witnesses
For reasons still unclear, a physical altercation broke out in front of a pub on Dettinger Straße late Friday night, leaving a 30-year-old man with severe head injuries. Emergency services and police were alerted around 3:30 a.m. that two men had assaulted the victim outside the establishment. At the scene, officers found only the injured 30-year-old—who was taken to a hospital for treatment—and several witnesses.
Investigators determined that the victim had been involved in a confrontation with two young men, roughly 18 years old, during which a baseball bat was reportedly used. The assailants, described as having a southern European or Mediterranean appearance and wearing dark winter clothing, fled toward Hindenburgstraße before police arrived. Extensive searches in the area proved unsuccessful.
The Kirchheim unter Teck police precinct has launched an investigation and urges anyone with information about the incident or the suspects' whereabouts to contact them at +49 7021 50120-0.
Tübingen (TÜ): Teen Suffers Serious Injuries in E-Scooter Crash
A Friday midday collision at the intersection of Ebertstraße and Paulinenstraße left three people injured and caused an estimated €20,000 in property damage. At approximately 12:45 p.m., a 49-year-old taxi driver in a Mercedes Vito failed to yield to an oncoming e-scooter carrying two teenagers, ages 14 and 13, as he entered the intersection from Ebertstraße.
The 14-year-old scooter rider collided with the taxi's passenger side, his head shattering the window from the force of impact. Both teens were thrown onto the roadway and initially unresponsive. Paramedics rushed them to a nearby hospital, where the 14-year-old was admitted with severe facial injuries. His 13-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and was released after outpatient treatment. The taxi driver, who suffered slight injuries, remained at the scene following medical evaluation. His vehicle, deemed undriveable, was towed away.
Preliminary estimates place the damage to the taxi at €20,000, with the e-scooter sustaining roughly €500 in damage. Authorities impounded the scooter after determining it lacked both roadworthiness certification and mandatory liability insurance. Given its maximum speed, the vehicle also required a driver's license—which the 14-year-old did not possess.
The Tübingen traffic police are conducting further investigations.
Tübingen (TU): Graffiti Vandals Caught in the Act
Two 14-year-olds were caught spray-painting graffiti at Egeria Square on Friday evening around 8:50 PM. A witness observed the pair tagging, among other things, an electrical box and immediately alerted police. During the subsequent search, officers located and stopped the two juveniles. Both admitted to the offense, and one of the teens was found in possession of a spray can used in the act. Another can belonging to the youths was discovered nearby at the scene of the incident.
Burladingen (ZAK): Building Fire
Emergency responders were deployed en masse to a building fire in Burladingen early Saturday morning. At approximately 7:10 AM, the integrated control center for fire and rescue services received reports of a burning garage on Hohe Wacht Street. Even while en route, crews spotted a thick column of smoke rising from the area. Firefighters, arriving with seven vehicles and 50 personnel, were unable to prevent the flames from spreading to the adjacent single-family home. However, they managed to quickly contain and extinguish the blaze. All residents escaped the building unharmed. As a precaution, seven ambulances and 14 rescue workers remained on standby at the scene. Preliminary estimates place the property damage in the low six-figure range. Parts of the house were left uninhabitable due to both fire and severe smoke damage. Investigators suspect that improper handling of hot ashes from a tile stove may have caused the fire. The Hechingen police station, assisted by forensic specialists, has launched an investigation into the incident.
