AfD leader Protschka trailing significantly in Landrat election - Werner Bumeder Secures Another Term as Dingolfing-Landau's District Administrator

Werner Bumeder has secured another term as district administrator of Dingolfing-Landau. He won the election with a clear majority, taking 65.2% of the vote. His victory continues the CSU's strong hold in the region since his first appointment in 2020.

The election saw Bumeder, running as the CSU and JBL candidate, dominate the polls. His closest rival, Stephan Protschka of the AfD, finished second with 18.3% of the vote. Voter turnout reached 62.6%, showing steady engagement in the local race.

Over the past five years, the CSU has remained the leading political force in Dingolfing-Landau. Günter Baumgartner, the region's Bundestag representative, has maintained a visible presence through his local office at Marienplatz 11 in Landau. However, no major policy shifts or notable events have been directly linked to Bumeder's tenure in available records.

Bumeder's decisive win reinforces the CSU's position in the district. The result confirms his continued leadership for another term. The AfD's second-place finish marks a notable but distant opposition presence in the region.
