Wertach's mayoral race heads to the polls on March 8—will a runoff follow?
Residents of Wertach will head to the polls on March 8 to elect their next mayor. Voting stations will remain open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The outcome will determine whether a runoff election is needed later in the month.
The upcoming election follows the 2020 local vote, where Mayor Gertrud Knoll of the CSU secured re-election with 84.15 percent of the vote. This time, the winner must gain over 50 percent to avoid a second round on March 22.
In the last town council election, the CSU took 25.21 percent of the vote, while the Independent Women's Group Wertach earned 18.28 percent. The Non-Partisan Voters' Association for Trade and Tourism received 21.92 percent, the Free Voters' Association Wertach 17.93 percent, and the Employees' Voters' Association 16.66 percent. No updates on the current political landscape or council composition have been released since then.
Results for both the mayoral and town council elections will be shared as soon as they are confirmed. A live graphic will display the mayoral vote count once announced.
The election will decide Wertach's leadership for the coming years. If no candidate secures a majority, voters will return on March 22 for a runoff. Official results will be published here immediately after verification.
