West Elm Township tightens park rules with new signage and ordinance updates

West Elm Township is set to improve park regulation enforcement. Supervisors have approved signage for Sylvan B. Fisher Park, notifying visitors of its dusk-to-dawn closure. The move comes after concerns from the West Elm Police Department.

At a recent meeting, held on Nov. 10, the board of supervisors discussed the matter. Notably, Chair John Ford was absent. Sgt. Jordan Byrnes of the West Elm Police Department recommended the sign installation, highlighting the need for easier enforcement of park regulations.

The township plans to update its ordinance in the new year to include park rules. It will consult with its solicitor for this process. Currently, park rules are not part of the parks ordinance, but a sign at West Elm Community Park is used for enforcement. The next board meeting, scheduled for Nov. 24, will likely discuss this further.

The signage at Sylvan B. Fisher Park is expected to enhance regulation enforcement. The township's ordinance update, planned for the new year, will provide a comprehensive set of rules for all parks. The next board meeting on Nov. 24 will provide further updates on this progress.
