Westendorf's High-Stakes Mayor and Council Elections Set for March 8
Westendorf residents will head to the polls on March 8 to elect a new mayor and town council. Voting stations will remain open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Preliminary results for Wisconsin's 2026 local elections are expected to emerge by the evening.
The mayoral race follows a straightforward rule: if any candidate wins over 50 percent of the vote, they will be declared mayor. Should no one secure a majority, a runoff election will take place on March 22.
Five years ago, Fritz Obermaier dominated the mayoral contest with 86.4 percent of the vote. The 2020 town council election saw 19 seats distributed between two groups. United Voters' Group Westendorf took 58.2 percent, while the Nonpartisan Dösingen Voters' Association received 41.8 percent.
This year's town council results will be announced once officially confirmed.
The election will determine both the next mayor and the composition of the town council. Official confirmation of the results will follow the vote count. A runoff, if needed, is scheduled for March 22.
