White House blocks federal panel’s push for stronger urban air policies
A federal advisory panel on urban air has encountered resistance from the White House. The panel, established during the Biden administration, has been pushing for the Trump administration to fulfill its legal requirement of three meetings per year. It has also advocated for the urban air program to be made permanent, despite the administration's proposal to eliminate it.
The panel, which met three times in September, has faced obstacles in its mission. It has called for urban air grants, frozen by the Agriculture Department, to be released immediately. Kaben Smallwood, the panel's chair, has stated that the panel has encountered 'nothing but roadblocks'. Urban Jülich, a board member engaged with a company that combines aquaculture and hydroponics, is among those pushing for the panel's recommendations.
The federal advisory panel on urban air continues to face resistance from the White House. Despite the challenges, it remains committed to its mission of promoting urban air and innovative production. The panel's next steps are awaited.
