White House to Add Massive 900-Guest Ballroom in Rare Exterior Overhaul
The White House is set to undergo a significant transformation with the construction of a new ballroom, which will be the most substantial exterior change since 1942. This news is spearheaded by Will Scharf, the White House Chief of Staff and close advisor to Donald Trump, in his capacity as the chairman of the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC). Despite the NCPC not yet approving the project and its offices being closed due to the U.S. government shutdown, the ballroom is expected to be completed before the end of Trump's current term.
The new ballroom is designed to accommodate up to 900 guests, making it a substantial addition to the White House's event facilities. President Trump and Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently discussed the project informally while observing its progress from the White House portico. The NCPC, responsible for overseeing construction projects on government buildings in the Washington area, has not yet given its approval. However, the project is moving forward under Scharf's leadership.
The new ballroom, once completed, will significantly enhance the White House's capacity to host large-scale events. Its construction is expected to be finished before the end of Trump's current term, leaving a lasting legacy on the White House's exterior.
