Wiesbaden Halts Payment Demands to Ease Holiday Financial Stress
The city of Wiesbaden will pause all payment demands and enforcement orders for a short period this Christmas. Between December 20 and December 31, 2025, no new notices will be issued to residents. The move aims to protect the holiday season for families by reducing financial stress during this time.
The Hessian Ministry of Finance has set clear guidelines for this temporary freeze. Under normal circumstances, payment demands must be issued only after the due date of a claim. Alternatively, they can be sent if the action triggering the due date is included in the demand itself. Demands for payments not yet due are allowed only for future instalments under existing contracts or maintenance payments.
The suspension runs from December 20 to December 31, 2025, covering most administrative demands. Tax-related notices and certain enforcement actions will continue, but other payment requests will resume in January. The policy provides a short but clear period of relief for households during the holidays.
