Wiesbaden's 2026 local elections reveal sharp district divides and shifting alliances

The local elections in Wiesbaden on 15 March 2026 have now been fully counted across all 247 districts. While no further district results remain

In Bierstadt, the SPD holds first place with 506 votes (24.7%), led by Dr. Alexander Gebauer, who secured 93 personal votes. The Greens follow closely with 395 votes (19.3%), with Nico Becher receiving 75 votes as their top candidate. The FDP trails slightly behind with 391 votes (19.1%), and Claudia Bär leads their list with 69 votes.

The picture differs sharply in Biebrich, where the AfD dominates with 799 votes (33.0%). Markus Michel, Erhard Stahl, and Astrid Heller earned the most individual support there. The SPD in Biebrich managed 533 votes (22.0%), with Dmitrij Sluzkij, Ulrich Rehwald, and Rudolf Kaiser performing strongly. Meanwhile, the Greens gained just 125 votes (5.2%), while The Left and smaller parties also picked up limited backing. In the Southeast district, the Greens lead with 528 candidate votes (30.4%). Mechthild Behr, Christopher Nemeczek, and Barbara Krekeler were the top performers for the party. The SPD follows with 346 votes (19.9%), and Mario Zaleski secured 81 votes as their strongest candidate. With all districts counted, the focus now shifts to cumulative voting and panachage. Over 150 candidates remain in contention for additional support, which could alter the final rankings before results are confirmed on Monday.

The current distribution reflects a fragmented political landscape across Wiesbaden's districts. While the CDU holds the highest citywide share, strong showings by the SPD, Greens, and AfD in different areas highlight local variations. Final adjustments will depend on the remaining cumulative and panachage votes, with official results expected shortly.
