Wiesbaden's crime rates drop sharply—but burglaries and domestic violence rise
Wiesbaden saw a notable drop in overall crime during 2025, continuing a downward trend from previous years. Street crime alone fell by around 550 cases, marking a significant improvement in public safety. However, some areas, such as residential burglaries and domestic violence, still posed challenges for local authorities.
Police efforts in the city centre played a major role in reducing street crime. Over 8,000 person controls were carried out, involving more than 3,800 officers. These checks uncovered 221 criminal offences and led to 127 arrests. Nearly 100 outstanding warrants were also executed, mostly for drug-related violations, including cannabis offences.
The total number of street crime incidents dropped to 3,968 in 2025, down from the previous year. Meanwhile, the clearance rate for these crimes improved, rising from 19.8% to 22.8%. Overall, more than 60% of reported crimes in Wiesbaden were solved, maintaining a stable resolution rate.
Despite progress in street crime, residential burglaries surged to 608 cases—a sharp increase of 181 from 2024. This marked a return to higher levels after a period of decline. Domestic violence also remained a persistent issue, with around 840 cases reported annually.
Wiesbaden's strategy for public safety has focused on increasing police visibility in busy areas. Authorities have stressed the importance of a strong presence to deter crime and respond quickly to incidents.
The decline in street crime reflects the impact of targeted police operations in Wiesbaden. Yet, the rise in burglaries and steady domestic violence figures highlight ongoing concerns. With a clearance rate holding above 60%, the city continues to address crime through both prevention and enforcement measures.
