Wiesbaden’s Design Board Welcomes New Faces for 2026 After Honoring Legacy Members

Wiesbaden’s Design and Heritage Advisory College Board will carry on its work in 2026 with fresh faces. The city has confirmed the board’s continuation, recognising its role in shaping local architecture and heritage. Three long-serving members have also been honoured for their contributions over the past six years.

For the last six years, Prof. Sophie Wolfrum, Prof. Udo Gleim, and Prof. Roland Burgard have guided Wiesbaden’s architectural direction. The trio led discussions with sharp questions, a steady approach, and even a touch of humour. Their efforts helped refine projects, from preserving historic sites to planning new developments along Petersweg.

The College Board’s responsibilities go beyond design reviews. It examines fine details, resolves disputes in municipal planning, and ensures projects stay aligned with the city’s vision. Prof. Burgard, in particular, played a key role in correcting design misalignments and keeping developments on track.

Looking ahead, the 2026 meetings are already scheduled. The College Board will gather on February 25, May 27, September 9, and November 18. While new members will join, the city has not yet named a successor for the chairmanship.

The outgoing members leave behind a legacy of thoughtful oversight and design influence. Their work has left a visible mark on Wiesbaden, from heritage conservation to modern developments. The College Board’s future discussions will continue to shape the city’s evolving landscape.
