State Capital Has Counted - CDU Gains - Wiesbaden's election reshapes city politics as CDU and SPD gain ground
Provisional final results for Wiesbaden's city council election have been released. The vote, held earlier this month, shows shifts in support for several major parties. Both the SPD and CDU made gains, while the Greens saw a notable decline in their share of the vote.
The CDU emerged as the strongest party with 26.5% of the vote. This marks a 3.0-point increase compared to their 2021 performance. The SPD also improved, securing 22.3%—up 2.0 points from the last election.
The Greens suffered a significant drop, falling to 15.2%. Their result represents a 6.2-point loss since 2021. Meanwhile, the far-right AfD received 11.9%, slightly below the 12.7% initially projected on election night.
The results confirm changes in Wiesbaden's political landscape. The CDU and SPD have strengthened their positions, while the Greens have lost ground. The AfD's final share also fell short of early exit poll estimates.
