Wisconsin FoodShare Benefits to be Swiftly Restored Once Government Reopens
Wisconsin's Republican Congressman Bryan Steil has expressed confidence that food stamp benefits, known as FoodShare in Wisconsin, will be swiftly restored for nearly 700,000 recipients once the government reopens. The state's Department of Health Services reports this significant number of people rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Steil, echoing Vice President JD Vance's sentiments, has stated that Republicans will not yield to the 'hostage' situation created by the Democratic Party. He attributes the shutdown to the opposing party's willingness to cause hardship for American families in their effort to 'stand up to Trump'.
Once the government resumes operation, Steil anticipates that Democrats on Capitol Hill will likely vote to reinstate the benefits. He predicts this could happen as early as Friday, following the approval of funding. The restoration of benefits may take a day or two after the funding is approved.
