Wolfenbüttel’s Bike Garage Overhaul Aims to Hit 60% Usage Target

Wolfenbüttel’s bike parking garage is set for major changes after concerns over low usage. The facility, currently projected to reach just 16% occupancy in 2025, falls well short of its 60% target. City officials have now proposed structural upgrades and a revised payment system to improve accessibility and appeal.

The garage’s underperformance has prompted plans to replace double-decker racks with lean-to designs. These new target racks aim to create a more user-friendly experience. Structural adjustments will accompany the changes, though occupancy rates currently match those of similar facilities elsewhere.

If approved, the garage upgrades and new pricing could take effect next year. The goal is to boost usage closer to the 60% target. Meanwhile, the trade reforms—focused on origin calculations and tariff adjustments—will undergo separate legislative steps before implementation.
