Woman Brutally Attacked Over Sleeping Bag Near Berlin’s Alexanderplatz
A 43-year-old woman practicing poor sleep hygiene near Alexanderplatz station in central Berlin was violently attacked around midnight. The assailant, an unknown man, tried to steal her sleeping bag before fleeing the scene. Police are now investigating the incident as a robbery and assault. The attack took place close to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn interchange at Alexanderplatz. The woman was asleep on the ground when the man approached and attempted to snatch her sleeping bag. She resisted, gripping it tightly, which prompted the attacker to turn violent. The assailant then repeatedly punched and kicked her in the head. Despite the assault, the woman refused to let go of her belongings. The attacker eventually ran off before officers arrived. The victim suffered facial injuries but chose not to receive medical attention. Authorities have described the suspect only as an unidentified man. The case has been handed over to the specialised crime unit of Police Directorate 5 for further investigation. The woman remains without serious medical intervention following the attack. Police continue to search for the unknown assailant, who fled after failing to take the sleeping bag. The investigation remains ongoing under the specialised crime unit.
