Woman critically injured after being struck twice by same van in Berlin
A 61-year-old woman was seriously injured in Berlin's Wilmersdorf district on Tuesday evening. The incident involved an unattended vehicle that rolled forward, striking her before crashing into a tree. She was rushed to hospital with multiple fractures.
The accident began when a 54-year-old driver in a VW van hit the woman while turning from Laubacher Straße towards Südwestkorso. The impact left her lying in the street. Moments later, the same vehicle rolled forward unattended, running over her again.
The van then collided with a tree nearby. Emergency services transported the victim to a hospital for urgent treatment. Police Directorate 2 (West) has assigned a specialised unit to investigate the case. As of now, no public statement has been released regarding the findings or next steps in the inquiry.
The injured woman remains in hospital care. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details have been provided at this stage.
