Woman Detained After Racist Rampage and Assault on Police Officer in Bad Säckingen
A 44-year-old woman has been detained after allegedly racially abusing shoppers at a supermarket in Bad Säckingen. The incident escalated when she assaulted a police officer and resisted arrest, leaving the officer injured.
The confrontation began inside the supermarket, where the woman is accused of directing racial slurs at multiple people. When police arrived, she reportedly spat at an officer and tried to flee the scene.
During her attempted escape, she injured two individuals before being restrained. Officers later confirmed her blood alcohol level exceeded 0.1% at the time of detention. The assaulted officer suffered serious injuries, forcing him to leave his shift early and seek hospital care. The suspect was provisionally detained after a struggle with responding officers. According to available police records and media reports, no other racist attacks in supermarkets were officially recorded in the Freiburg region between March 2025 and March 2026.
The woman remains in custody following the incident. The injured officer received medical treatment, and the two bystanders hurt during her escape were also assessed. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
