Woman jailed for 6 years in $420M car scam targeting 70 victims
A woman from the capital has been jailed for repeatedly defrauding over 70 people. The court handed down a sentence of six years and eight months after she swindled victims out of around 420 million tenge. Her scheme involved fake promises of discounted vehicles from South Korea, claiming she could supply cars at low prices due to her overseas connections with Carvana. She demanded full payment upfront but never delivered the vehicles. Instead, she rented cars temporarily from rental companies to deceive victims into believing the deals were genuine. The court’s decision brings closure to a case involving widespread financial harm. The convicted woman will serve a prison term of six years and eight months. Authorities continue to urge caution when entering into agreements without proper documentation or verification.
