Woman jailed for 70 days after ignoring fraud fines for years
A 38-year-old woman has been jailed after failing to pay fines for fraudulently claiming benefits. Federal police arrested her at her home in Wehr on Thursday evening, following outstanding warrants for her detention. The woman was originally convicted in court for benefit fraud in both 2023 and 2025. Instead of settling the fines, she ignored the penalties and avoided the alternative prison terms assigned.
Authorities later issued arrest warrants when she continued to evade payment. On February 12, 2026, officers took her into custody at her residence.
She is now serving a combined sentence of 70 days in a women’s correctional facility. The woman’s refusal to pay the fines led directly to her imprisonment. Her 70-day term began immediately after her arrest. The case highlights the consequences of failing to comply with court-ordered penalties.
