Woman sexually harassed at Stuttgart Central Station; suspect arrested for illegal residence
A 28-year-old woman was sexually harassed at Stuttgart Central Station on Thursday afternoon. The incident, reported by a witness, led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man suspected of illegal residence in Germany.
The assault took place around 4:00 p.m. on March 12, 2026. The suspect, a Surinamese national, allegedly struck the victim—a German citizen—on the buttocks with an open hand. A bystander quickly alerted the Federal Police.
Officers detained the man and took him to a local police station for questioning. Authorities have since launched an investigation into both the harassment and his immigration status. The suspect was found to be living in Germany without legal permission. Police are now processing the case further.
The victim, a German woman, is cooperating with the investigation. The suspect remains in custody while authorities examine the circumstances of the assault and his residency status. No additional details on similar incidents at train stations in the past year have been confirmed.
