World's Most Reliable Airline Title: SAS Tops the Punctuality Charts Globally
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has made aviation history by being named the most punctual airline worldwide in April 2025, according to Cirium, a leading aviation analysis company. This impressive achievement comes after a series of improvements in punctuality that started in 2024.
CEO Anko van der Werff commented that the recognition was a confirmation of SAS's transformation and the dedication of its employees. The airline's on-time arrival rate for April 2025 was a commendable 88.32 percent.
SAS's COO, Jason Mahoney, attributed the achievement to hard work and a clear focus on quality and efficiency. Punctuality, he stated, is no longer just a goal for SAS, but the new standard. This cultural shift is reflected in concrete results, with SAS consistently achieving top values in Europe from August 2024 to April 2025.
SAS's improved punctuality is a result of measures like comprehensive data management, daily operational meetings, and strengthened interdepartmental cooperation. Employees at SAS are encouraged to take responsibility in their respective areas, leading to a cultural shift that has proven effective.
Interestingly, all three top-ranked airlines in April 2025 belong to the SkyTeam alliance, with SAS in the first position, Aeromexico in second, and Saudia taking third place. This alliance, along with a successful restructuring, marks a strategic change for the company.

In the end of 2024, SAS was the third most punctual large airline in Europe and ninth worldwide. However, the airline ended 2024 with a global exclamation point by becoming the world's most punctual airline in April 2025. Mike Malik, marketing chief at Cirium, summarized that the transformation of SAS is not only complete but also bearing global fruit.
In April 2025, Qatar Airways was awarded the title "most punctual airline worldwide" by Cirium. However, SAS managed to maintain its position as the top airline globally. This double recognition is a testament to SAS's commitment to excellence and its successful transformation journey.
